Strategic Preparedness Cycle Strategic preparedness is an ongoing process that is comprised of five stages. It starts with preliminary research and planning. After the basic stages are surpassed, the process is moving to organizing or equipping, training, exercising, and evaluating in order to continue the cycle again (Federal Emergency Management Agency, n.d.). The concept consists of the most crucial activities to establish and secure the level of capability required to execute an extensive range of incident management processes. All elements of the cycle are significant and one should analyze how they might be applied by the communities (Fugate, 2010). Planning is vital as it allows people to evaluate the scope of an emergency and understand what has to be done. Organization stage makes people act in accordance to a certain threat, while equipping, training, and exercising create a solid background of knowledge and actions needed to manage dangers. Step of evaluation is relevant due to its ability to identify and assess the potential effects of foreseen risks, hazards, problems, or emergencies in a place.
