A successful article critique starts with a brief introduction of the paper, to let the
reader know what will be covered in the research article critique. As the sample
article critique suggests, start with summarizing the major points or elements of
the research article selected, using headings to guide the reader. Once the
article is summarized, use another heading to discuss the strengths and
weaknesses of the article.
The first page is the cover page, the second page is the abstract, and the last
page is the reference page. This means your article summary the body of the
paper must be very tightly or crisply written.
It is your discretion to use additional headings. If additional headings will help
guide your reader, put additional heading in (e.g. see the sample critique). The
article critique concludes with suggestions for improvement, which should be
connected to your identified areas of weakness. Dont forget to include the
reference page, which at the very least will have the article you are critiquing and
likely, either or both of your textbooks, if cited in the body of the paper.
