Andrea-In healthcare it is important to remember that each person comes with their own culture and ideas, even if they are from the same area as you. This is even more significant when working with people whom we know are from diverse cultures and areas of the world. In the United States we cannot force people to receive a vaccine or other medication no matter how lifesaving it may be. Giving everyone the option to accept or decline treatment is a key-freedom that shapes the American point of view.
It is important that all people be given respect in their lives, especially when it comes to their healthcare. However, there are challenges that arise when trying to ensure all cultures are respected in the same way. As cultures are unique each family can have their own views too. In healthcare policy, it is my opinion that all people, be treated with dignity and respect. As an individual, I may not agree with their choice, but it is their choice. As a healthcare provider, it is our responsibility to ensure our patients have the information they need to make an informed decision whether we agree with it or not, it is not up to us.
RE: Updated Medicaid Information Technology Systems Guidance: Streamlined Modular Certification for Medicaid Enterprise Systems. This development is designed to remove overly complex reporting systems and create a more flexible system for states to use in reporting to Medicare and Medicaid. For this specific proposal, there are no known cultural sensitivities that need to be addressed.

Melissa-read the Β” Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services Federal Policy GuidanceΒ” However, I do not see any cultural sensitivities pertaining to the rule. Cultural sensitivity means that you are aware and accepting of cultural differences. It implies that you withhold judgment of cross-cultural practices and that you can deal effectively with these differences. I read Β” Medicaid Program; Reassignment of Medicaid Provider Claims Final Rule,Β” the final rule reinterprets the scope of the general requirement that state payments for Medicaid services under a state plan must generally be made directly to the individual practitioner or institution providing services or to the beneficiary, in the case of a class of practitioners for which the Medicaid program is the primary source of revenue. (Chiquita Brooks-Lasure, 2022).
Yes, all cultures should be given equal consideration in the health industry, everyone has different cultures and the way they do things with their families. ItΒ’s about communication, having effective communication while listening to the most important aspects of effective communication. Successful listening means not just understanding what the speaker is saying, but also understanding how the speaker feels about what they are saying.
People should be respected in all aspects of culture by creating an environment where everyone feels safe to express ideas, opinions, and feelings, or plan problems solved in a created way.
