Part 1: Address these questions, drawing on the course materials and the website linked below: From where do prejudices originate (both ΒmicroΒ sources and sources related to larger social systems)? What is implicit bias (be sure to paraphrase)? How would you propose eliminating the prejudices or implicit biases that a person has? How easily do you think this could be accomplished? Your discussion of these points will make up two-thirds of your grade.
Part 2: Go to https://implicit.harvard.edu/implicit/demo/selectatest.html
and take the Weapons IAT and Gender-Career implicit association tests. To get there, continue as a guest and choose proceed on the next screen. Note that these tests are designed to get at our internalized, unconscious biases: theyΒre not intended to reflect on your character, or your principles. Reflect on the process of taking the IATs. What was it like to take the tests? What surprised you? How do you feel about the results (you do not have
to list your specific results unless you want to)? What connections can you make between your observations and the course materials?
We will be looking to see how many relevant social psychological concepts you discuss, how well you seem to know and understand those concepts, what proportion of your writing is based on the course materials (including the IAT site), and how well you analyze your reactions in light of social psychological concepts. Please type your answers in 12-point font, single-spaced, with normal margins. There is no specific length requirement, but it will probably take 2-3 single-spaced pages to adequately complete this assignment. Be sure to present enough detail and evidence, and to include in-text citations to your sources (a reference list is only needed if you use additional sources).
I will attach pdfs of what is covered. You do place your own research too.
The website link is above. It can all be your own opinions, results, and experiences.
