Freedom and security are the essential aspects that define people’s lives. The use of technological devices has always created the tension between freedom and security. The approach of fulfilling one aspect compromises the other (Manokha, 2018). For instance, the fulfillment of security in using technological equipment violates the guidelines of freedom and vice versa. The effective balance has to be integrated into keeping tensionof freedom and security at optimal ranges. The approach to advancing sustainable freedom and security will transform the quality of life among people (Manokha, 2018). This paper provides experiences of the tension existing between freedom and security in using technological devices.
In the workplace, monitoring of employees is necessary to ensure appropriate use of equipment. Thus, the websites accessed and handling of devices are scrutinized to ensure appropriate organizational functions (Manokha, 2018). The approach of fostering the assessment of the workability of employees facilitates the security of the business functions. The integration of the business security through the appropriate use of the equipment results in the sustainability of operations. The advancement of the strategies meant to uphold sustainable business activities will lead to the attainment of operational objectives in the marketplace (Manokha, 2018). However, employee monitoring in the workplace violates their privacy. The limitation of privacy leads to the deterioration of employee freedom. The reduction of employee freedom induces poor working conditions. Accordingly, the employees without adequate freedom will have a poor self-esteem and self-concept. The integration of CCTV in residential premises is essential in maintaining security. Through CCTV devices, the management of issues such as theft will be improved (Seifi et al., 2022). The advancement of security on the premises comprises the capacity to foster the sustainability of people’s living conditions in society. The advancement of the strategies intended to foster people’s living conditions will increase their confidence. However, CCTV manifests the scrutiny of people’s activities on the premises. The evaluation of personal activities results in reducing the sense of freedom among people (Seifi et al., 2022). For instance, the confidential meetings of people in the residential premises can be exposed by CCTV devices. Therefore, the installation of CCTV equipment has to be done in such a way that will promote freedom but not compromise security. The effective installation of the CCTV devices willimprove people’s confidence in the residential premises (Seifi et al., 2022). The confidence arises from the aspect of being free and having adequate security.
From the above illustration, it is clear that freedom and security compromise one another in using technical equipment. For instance, the fulfillment of security triggers the deterioration of freedom. Efficient strategies have to be integrated to uphold a balance between security and freedom. The enhancement of a sufficient balance of security and freedom will lead to the sustainability of the quality of living. Accordingly, individuals will have an increased sense of self-esteem due to the advancement of self-esteem and self-concept.
