First it is a brief paper about 2-3 pages that describes the issue and answers some questions.
Then use a combination of spoken words and audio/visual materials to present
your significant event occurrence, episode, or experience using expressive arts.
I put powerpoint however it does not have to be a tradional power point as you can see by the
description.
The situation description is:
Client came into the shelter we will call her (Nancy) fleeing a domestic disturbance. The police
excorted her from the hospital where she was examined for her injuries. Client had 3 children, girl
age 5, boy age 8, boy age 9. She disclosed that the 5 year old had hide under the living room table
when the dad started yelling and she didnÂ’t know she was there. As the husand started to get
physical and yelling the nine year old came in and the mom got him out of the room quickly. I am a
mandat
ed reporter and in the state of arkansas if a child is witness to the abuse then child services
has to be called. I know that the mother was not abusive to the children and she tried to keep them
out of harms way. However, since she disclosed this information to me I felt I had no choice legally. I was conflicted on my duty to report. It really made me think and feel for the family because they
have already been through a lot. The children have lost thier dad for a time and a possiblity of loosing thier mom until the investigation is completed. I did report and they came out and did the
investigation and spoke with the children. They left the children in the mothers care since she was
staying at the shelter but however she will have several visits befoer the case would be closed.
