Scenario:
The VeggieRx program has been in implementation for four months and participation in this program is lagging. While school nurses are prescribing VeggieRx, participants/students are not collecting their free box of fruits and veggies. Not only does this create food waste, but the program is not achieving benchmark goals of program participation. A stakeholder in the VeggieRx program suggested that you incentivize the program by giving all participants a $20 cash incentive upon pick-up of their box. Another stakeholder disagrees; stating that the cash incentive will deplete funds faster. As the Program Manager and sole budgetary authority under the grant, you make the call. Explain your view in a formal business letter to your stakeholders.
