description and analysis, and thematic content (all based on nonverbal appraisal). Do not forget
to add your justification for your suppositions. For Film Assessment: Part 2 Listening
Assignment, watch the film with sound and reflect on your evaluation on your previous work,

Decoding Nonverbals Part II (video transcript):
Welcome back. This week were actually talking a little bit more about decoding nonverbal communication. I know youve been thinking about it a lot and youre deciding how do I decode between the people that Ive talked to all the time, how do I actually decode my own non-verbal communication? But this week, I want to give you a specific focus of the relationship between the impressions that you
r nonverbal communication leaves on other people, combined with the personality of yourself, your own attitude. And again, Im talking about yourself, but maybe you could start actually thinking about how those project to other people. The personality of those friends and family members that you speak to all the time. The attitudes that they normally hold. Those things directly impact the way that you interpret their nonverbal impressions when you meet someone for the first time, if you have no history with them whatsoever, you cant really attribute personality and attitude to those non-verbal impressions. Theyre actually a little cleaner. But in people that you have an intimate relationship with, that you have spent years with. The personality and attitudes actually sort of overpower the nonverbal behaviors because you know them so well. Its a really interesting factor when it comes to decoding, to be honest, are actually better at decoding a strangers nonverbals than you or the people closest to you. So this week I want you to think about one, the idea of non-verbal communication maturity in the sense that the more cleanly you actually interpret someones non-verbals has a direct correlation to the more mature you are. Not only in life or experience or relationships that actually mature in your interpersonal communication skills. How well do you communicate with other people and how accurate are you normally? So thats one thing I want you to be thinking about. The second thing I want you to be thinking about is really making strong connections between verbal, non-verbal, and then the actual positioning and context of the conversation. You cannot leave it out. Its of the utmost importance. Where are you, What are you talking about? Whats the goal of the conversation? I know these are things youve been listening to in the other conversations that weve had, but also in some of the readings. So just keep those at the forefront and do a really good job this week as you finish up decoding nonverbal communication.
