MIDTERM WRITING ASSIGNMENT:ESSAY PROMPT/EXPECTATIONS:We are in the middle of a global pandemic. COVID-19 has drastically altered the daily lives of people all across the world system. This writing assignment encourages you to use the knowledge you’ve accrued from your assigned readings in this class to help make sense of this issue as a global/transnational sociological phenomenon. This writing assignment has two main components, outlined below:In Slavoj Žižek’s Pandemic: COVID-19 Shakes the World, he claims that many governments around the world were either experimenting-with or strongly-considering implementing a form of “war communism,” to deal with the pandemic. Žižek has a very specific meaning for this term, and forces us to consider key issues of handling a global pandemic, including the maintenance of global supply and production networks, the creation and sharing of a vaccine to the world population, and other issues that likely require widespread coordination and cooperation. First, I want you to clearly define what Žižek means when he discusses “war communism.” How does he use this term? What kind of scenario is he envisioning? What are some examples of “war communism” Žižek says have already been implemented, or are considering being implemented by governments around the world?Second, I want you to describe how COVID-19 is a world-systemic social problem. This question should combine your commentary and thoughts from the Žižek book, along with your pre-existing knowledge on world-systems analysis (WSA). Be as creative and original as you’d like while describing the various public health, political, economic, and ideological aspects of COVID-19 as a world-systemic problem. However, you should strive to make your argument using some of the WSA terms we’ve discussed in class (for example, key concepts like Core/Periphery, Unequal Exchange, and such). This will help you make the connections between Žižek’s book, and the other WSA themes of our course. You are welcome to cite other readings from class, or outside writings on the issue as well—so long as it substantially contributes

The same citation style applies if you are citing the Wallerstein book, or any other articles we’ve read.At the end of your essay, I also need to see a bibliography/work-cited list. This will be the list of all sources you read, gained ideas from that seriously impacted your argument, or cited in your essay. See the example I have below for how to cite a books, articles, and news sources: WHY IS IT IMPORTANT TO PROPERLY CITE SOURCES IN YOUR PAPER?:It is important to properly cite/document the sources you use in your essay for two main reasons. First, this is the standard practice for academic scholarship. If your argument is building from the ideas of other people, it is important to cite/attribute them, and let the reader know where your ideas come from. Second, it is important to do this for this specific assignment. You will be uploading your assignment through Turnitin.com, which is a plagiarism-detection software. In other words, this program checks to make sure you’re not cheating or copying other papers. Therefore, always be sure to do in-text and bibliographical citations in your paper, to ensure the integrity of your paper, and ensure that your paper does not accidentally show up as ‘plagiarism’ in Turnitin’s data analyses. This the guy u write soc159 discussion. her another class. londonessays.com…Find the class required reading here.
