TOPIC: Select a celebrity and explore a minimum of three of the concepts and theories of celebrities by considering the celebrity and your connection to them.
Must include:
· A minimum of one citation from the Leo Braudy interview and/or the documentary by Adrien Grenier, Teenage Paparazzo.
· A minimum of one citation from at least one additional credible source. Students should locate this source through research. The source could be, for example, an article, a book, a website, etc.
FORMAT:
· Length: 2-3 pages (plus APA works cited page)
· Type-written, 12-point font
· MS Word or pdf only (no Apple files)
STRUCTURE: Must include a clear introduction, a discussion, and a conclusion. Your analysis must follow the format described below:
Part A) Introduction
· Start with a hook. (This could be a quotation, statistic, question, definition etc.)
· Briefly introduce your celebrity and the three-course ideas or theories.
Part B) Discussion
1. Overview
· Describe the celebrity you will be analyzing. Give some background about them. Keep it brief and on track.
· Briefly introduce your knowledge of/co
nnection to/history with the celebrity.
2. Analysis
a. Select the first concept you want to discuss, explain what it is and explain how it is illustrated with the celebrity you described in A. Be as specific as possible by clearly describing specific details and linking them to the concept. Be sure to provide evidence to support your perspective.
b. Answer the question, who cares? by exploring why the insight matters or has relevance. You might consider: What does it tell us about the culture as a whole OR about what the culture values or assumes Or about how the culture* measures success or relevance? Or how does it inform connection or community Or How has it impacted you?
(*You can interpret the term culture as you feel it is most relevant to your analysis.)
(Remember you need to discuss a minimum of 3 course concepts in total)
Part C) Conclusion
Briefly review your topic including the key points and conclude with a final thought that relates to the hook from your introduction.
