You will be examining the beverage consumption of the individuals listed below, paying specific attention to the effect that their beverage intake has on their nutritional needs.
A 46-year-old male heavy drinker who consumes 5 to 6 alcoholic drinks per day. Tip: Your answer should not address a rehabilitation program like AA, it should address the nutritional ramifications related to alcohol use/abuse.
An 8-year-old girl who drinks only 100% fruit juice, in place of milk. Averages about 16 ounces per day. She does not drink any other beverages.
A 30-year-old male who is a factory worker, works in a hot environment, but consumes only 24 to 32 ounces of bottled water per day. Include what water intake requirements are for a 30-year-old and determine new requirements considering his work environment.
A 50-year-old female who consumes caffeinated beverages (soda, coffee, and tea) on a regular basis. Averages 4 cans of Mountain Dew, 2 cups of regular coffee with cream and sugar, and 2 cups of sweetened tea per day.
You will complete and submit a personal beverage consumption log for 7 days. Based on your personal log and information learned through your
discussion of alcohol, caffeine, sugar, and water, include the effect that your overall beverage consumption has on your nutrition and overall health.
In a typed paper, address each individuals needs. Be specific in recommendations and explanations.
What is the recommendation for each individuals beverage specific consumption? (For example: How many drinks per day is considered within the recommended amount for an adult male?)
How is their current beverage consumption affecting their specific nutritional status based on gender and age requirements?
What potential negative health outcomes could result from their continued consumption?
List three specific changes each individual could implement regarding his or her beverage consumption. Also, include how each of the three changes will be implemented into his or her daily lifestyle.
Include at least three scholarly sources (i.e., New England Journal of Sports Medicine, American Journal of Sociology) in addition to your textbook to support your information. People Magazine, ESPN, Google.com are not scholarly sources.
In-text citations and scholarly sources should be included in the discussion for each individual. (Cite sources after each individual discussion.)
Papers must be typed, double-spaced, and 12? font.
