1) Gender inequality is discrimination on the basis of sex or gender causing one sex or gender to be routinely privileged or prioritized over another. Gender equality is a fundamental human right and that right is violated by gender based discrimination. An example that was given on crash course that they pointed out how the United States has never had a female president or vice president, and the first female supreme court justice was not appointed until 1981. Sexism is patriarchal societies are maintained through a careful cultivation of attitudes, behaviors, and systems. that favor men and encourage society to believe that one gender is innately better than others. An example that was given on crash course was Little girls, for example, may be encouraged to be tomboys on occasion. However, young boys are sometimes chastised for loving stereotypically feminine items or even the color pink. And lastly feminism is the support of social equality for all genders, in opposition to patriarchy and sexism. In addition there are three major schools of thought within feminist theory. 2) We discussed that gender inequality is discrimination on the basis of sex or gender causing one sex or gender to be routinely privileged or prioritized over another. Gender equality is a fundamental human right and that right is violated by gender based discrimination. Now Gender based violence kind of plays the same roles just that physical, sexual, verbal, emotional, and psychological abuse, threats, coercion, and economic or educational deprivation is involved. Gender-based violence is when someone is harmed because of his or her biological sex or gender identity. Now gender based violence is manifested in many ways, forced marriage of young girls, trafficking in persons, female genital mutilation/cutting, female infanticide, male rape, purdah, violence directed at lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender individuals, sexual violence, verbal abuse, the list goes on. I believe these manifestations happen due to society, it’s happening for years now. This is a difficult question to answer because I believe this always be around and keep happening I don’t really think there will be a stop to it. However I don’t think the impossible can happen, in some ways I believe a combat is changing the law. In some states or countries they have laws that allow young marriage happening and the justice system is honestly corrupt in my opinion. That system has failed us in many ways and left us heart broken. Many rape cases haven’t more paid attention to nor have the victims that have gotten raped have gotten their justice. I believe a big change can be the law and society.
