Answer & Explanation:An operating system (OS)
manages a computers hardware, provides basis for application programs, and
acts as an intermediary between the computer user and the computer hardware
(Silberschatz, Galvin, & Gagne, 2014). According to Stallings (2014), the
OS exploits the hardware resources of one or more processors to provide a set
of services to system users, and manages secondary memory and I/O devices on
behalf of its users.
Review the attached paper by Guzmán and Bobbie (20o7)
titled Hands-on operating systems made easy issued by
Consortium for Computing Sciences in Colleges. The authors argue that students
can implement major concepts taught in an O/S course with the help of a simple
hypothetical machine, which can be implemented in Java, and in C++.
Based on your reading in the paper, answer the following
questions and provide reasons to support your recommendation:
a) Identify one important concept,
research finding, theory, or idea that you learned, or noted, while completing this
review activity.
b) Why do you believe that this concept,
research finding, theory, or idea is impo
rtant in OS research?
c) Please identify and explain at least
2 reasons why you disagree with the authors position.
d) Apply what you have learned from this
review to some aspects of everyday use of a single user computer system
(laptop, notebook, tablet, etc.).
Your paper should be 2 to 3 pages in length, In support of your
response, cite and integrate at least two credible outside sources, as well as
your textbook, for a total of three or more sources. Place these in a reference
page formatted in accordance with APA style. This reference page does not count
toward the total page requirement.
Note: ALL submissions should be converted to PDF file
format. Failure to confirm to this requirement may earn you zero
credits.
